Bring the kids for a day of splashing in the waves, combing for shells and other treasures or building castles in the sand. Our beaches are open year round for overnight camping or just popping down to watch the sunrise. Parking is never a problem because you can drive right up on the beach!
People watching down at the shore is better than any television show between the giggling toddlers and the twenty somethings you can never run out of visual enticements. If the people don’t grab your eye you can always just lay out and take in the view of the endless horizon.
The waves along the Gulf are usually big enough to surf and boogie board, but not large enough to be dangerous to the average swimmer. During the summer months there are lifeguards stationed at Balli Park by Bob Hall Pier and on White Cap Beach. Surfers have been flocking here since the sport took hold and surfing isn’t just a water sport anymore; kiteboards are the new generation, it’s fun to watch how they propel themselves across the waves and take flight on their colorful rigs.
